Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup sugar mixed with 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon for rolling

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing well.
  5. Mix the cinnamon sugar in a shallow bowl. Roll dough into 1 1/2-inch balls and coat in cinnamon sugar.
  6. Place on prepared baking sheet about 2 inches apart. Flatten slightly if desired.
  7. Bake for 8-10 minutes until edges are golden and cracks form on top.
  8. Allow to cool on a wire rack before serving.
