- 8 ounces elbow macaroni
- 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 cups milk
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup bread crumbs
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Cook macaroni until al dente, drain, and set aside.
- In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute.
- Gradually whisk in milk, cook until thickened. Remove from heat and stir in cheddar and Parmesan cheeses, salt, and pepper.
- Combine cheese sauce with cooked macaroni. Transfer to a baking dish.
- Mix bread crumbs with paprika and sprinkle over the top.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden and crispy. Serve hot.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add cooked bacon bits or sautéed onions.
- You can use a mix of cheeses for a more complex flavor.
