- 4 pounds Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled and chopped
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese (optional)
- Fresh chives or parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Boil the potatoes in salted water until tender, about 15 minutes. Drain well.
- In a large mixing bowl, mash the potatoes until smooth. Add butter, heavy cream, sour cream, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Mix until creamy and well combined.
- Transfer the mashed potatoes to a greased baking dish. Sprinkle with shredded cheese if using.
- Bake uncovered in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until golden and bubbly.
- Garnish with chopped chives or parsley before serving.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add roasted garlic or shredded bacon on top before baking.
- Use full-fat heavy cream for the richest texture.
