A simple and addictive holiday treat made with crispy crackers layered with rich caramel, melted chocolate, and nuts.

Ingredients

  • 40 crackers (preferably saltine or graham crackers)
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Arrange crackers evenly on the prepared baking sheet.
  3. In a saucepan, melt butter and brown sugar over medium heat, stirring constantly until the mixture boils. Continue boiling for 3 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Pour caramel evenly over crackers, spreading gently.
  6. Bake for 10 minutes, then remove and sprinkle chocolate chips on top. Let sit for 2 minutes, then spread the melted chocolate evenly.
  7. Sprinkle chopped nuts over the chocolate, if using. Allow to cool completely before breaking into pieces.
